Before you send an enquiry

No advocate-client relationship yet. Submitting the enquiry form does not make you our client. We do not act for you until we confirm in writing that we accept your matter. Until then, we cannot give you legal advice. If a deadline or hearing date is approaching, say so in your enquiry and take advice from another advocate without delay if we have not confirmed that we can act.

Keep your first enquiry short. Please tell us your name and contact details, the name of the other party, the type of matter, and whether court proceedings have started. Please do not send detailed accounts, documents, photographs, recordings, or medical or financial records. We may be unable to act because of a conflict of interest, and we will ask for further detail once we have confirmed that we are free to act.

Conflict checks. Before accepting any matter, we check whether acting for you would conflict with our duties to a current or former client. To do this, we need your full name and the full name of the other party, together with any other person or company with a significant role in the dispute. Please also tell us if you have consulted this firm before. We use this information only for the conflict check and to reply to you. Only the people at the firm who need it for that purpose will see it.

Confidentiality. We treat everything you send us as confidential from the moment we receive it, whether or not we go on to act for you. If we cannot act, we will tell you promptly so that you can instruct another advocate. We will not use or disclose your information. We will keep only a limited record that a conflict check was run and the matter declined.

Your personal data. The Family Law Practice is the controller of the data you send us. We use it to take steps at your request and for our legitimate interest in running conflict checks. Our full privacy notice explains your rights.
